Katherine Kasia Lutz would you say that Silent Steeples was the best Dispatch album of all time? Just curious bro.

Stephen McGoogan Dear Sis,
Its definitely a contender, i mean i think it probably represents them the most accurately as who they are as artists (since it was their first album, made completely independent, and therefore immune to outside influences). Also, …since Dispatch openly stated that they were always trying to redefine themselves to keep critics from pigeonholing them (which is kind of ridiculous, honestly). As an album i think its very coherent and is very idyllic “Dispatch.” But, no, i would not say it’s their best. It is a very good album to get an understanding for what Dispatch was and it’s certainly better in my mind than the somewhat hit-or-miss “who are we living for” album. But “Bang Bang” is by far my favorite, and i think the best, album made by Dispatch. it just reads like a greatest hits collection “Bang Bang”, “The General”, “Two Coins”, and “Railway” are my top four favorite. The “Bang Bang” Album is the best, but “Silent Steeples” is just great acoustic folk rock.
Sincerely, Bro.See More22 hours ago ·
Stephen McGoogan But then again, this is just my opinion till tori tells me to believe something else.22 hours ago ·
Tori McGoogan this is glorious! i love you two!
i have to agree with stevie, actually! i’m not sure that i can quite as eloquently write as either of you, nor do i know as much, but i have to say that “bang bang” was my favie. “Here We Go”- “Bats in the B…elfry” - “The General” - “Bang Bang” - “Two Coins” - “Railway” - “Out Loud” ugh you can’t top this line-up, so good! this reminds me, a man who can play / sing “two coins” with acoustic guitar is in the running to become my husband.
but what are your thoughts, kathy? i know you had probably a more intimate / fuller understanding of their discographySee More12 hours ago ·
Eric Levanduski Steve and Tori are all definitely correct. These songs you guys listed are my favorites, too. I would just like to say that their live-CD All Points Bulletin, to me, really showcases Dispatch.
It has most of their good songs and very clearl…y displays their love for music. The band’s vibe and personality shines through in their live performances which I think is a major force behind what makes Dispatch so great. They are like a well-worn patchwork quilt of different sounds and influences that, when sewn together, simply flows. It is still one of the few albums I can genuinely sit through and listen without skipping a single song.
The only downside to APB is that you don’t get the folksy, acoustic versions of their songs… something you can only get off their other albums.See More6 hours ago ·
Katherine Kasia Lutz Sooo I guess I have a different relationship with Dispatch’s discography than all y’all, because all of my favorite songs — the ones that I find to be the most timeless, come from Silent Steeples. “Walk With You “Hey, Hey” “Bridges” “Born …Normal” …. I can appreciate everyone’s love for the nearly mainstream songs of Bang Bang, but there is just an intimacy off of Silent Steeples that I don’t think was ever recreated in their later albums. All Points Bulletin is AMAZING, though. Their live albums were always in my tops ~See More
